Bringing a commercial photographer into a retail floor, office space, or active job site shouldn’t derail your business operations or disrupt your revenue.
At Humble Moments Studio, our documentary approach means we capture your real team in action. No flash disruptions, forced posing, or halted workflows. To help your shoot run seamlessly, use this guide and checklist before your shoot day.
Prepare Your Team
Give Advance Notice: Let your team know when the shoot is happening so no one feels caught off guard.
Set the Tone: Reassure your staff that this isn’t a staged corporate portrait session. Your team doesn’t need to stare at the camera or hold a pose. They simply continue on like any other workday.
Identify Camera-Ready Advocates: Pick two to four team members who are comfortable being front and center.
Environment & Space Prep
Clean Up Safety & Clutter Hazzards: Tidy up loose cables, overflowing trash bins, confidential or proprietary information, and stray personal items.
Keep Your Authentic Character: Don’t sterilize your space. Tools on a workbench, active design boards, and working machinery show authentic scale and process.
Check Lighting & Fixtures: Replace any burnt-out overhead bulbs so that lighting remains consistent throughout your facility.
Wardrobe & Branding Guidelines
Branded Workwear: Encourage staff to wear clean, branded apparel (polos, hats, jackets, high-vis gear) if applicable.
Avoid Distracting Patterns: Steer clear of find geometric grids, small checks, or large competitor logos. Solid, neutral colors or rich earth tones translate best on camera.
Safety Gear Compliance: If your site requires hard hats, safety glasses, high-vis vests, or steel-toe boots, ensure employees wear them properly during the shoot to avoid compliance issues in published marketing materials.
Day-of Logistics & Shot Priorities
Assign a Point Person: Designate one internal staff member (marketing director, site manager, or owner) to act as liason during the shoot.
Map Out Priority Zones: Highlight key areas or processes that must be captured (i.e., customer interactions, specific or specialized machinery, finished product details).
Prepare Key Deliverables: Have any specific products, materials, or packaging staged and cleaned ahead of time if tabletop or environmental product shots are on the schedule.
