Between the Moments: Notes from the field.
Welcome to the Humble Moments Studio Field Guide & Blog: What it takes to document what’s real from Greater Portland Maine, and Beyond.
This blog exists because most of the interesting parts of a photography assignment never make it into the final gallery. Between the Moments is where those parts live.
Commercial Case Studies walk through real assignments for businesses around Portland and Westbrook, Maine: what the client needed, how access was earned, what the images actually did for them. Field Reports cover specific venues and locations, practical detail for anyone photographing there or hiring someone who’s already learned the room. Photography Tips break down documentary, lifestyle, editorial, and environmental techniques, written for people trying to figure out what they actually want, not industry jargon repeated back at them. Editorial Articles cover the wider ideas: how access gets granted, why authenticity photographs differently than a posed moment.
None of this is written to sell you on a single session. It’s written the way the photography itself is approached: paying attention to what’s true, and trusting that the right client finds the right work.
