Portland Maine Live Music Venues — A field guide for touring bands, tour managers, and photographers.
Nobody hands you a map when you roll into a new city.
You find the venue address on Google. You scope the venue from Instagram tags. You show up — and none of it was helpful. Where does the trailer go? Who do you talk to about credentials? What’s the light situation? Is there a pit?
You figure it out by being there. Or you don’t figure it out until it’s too late.
I know because I was in the van. Six shows. Six cities. Six unfamiliar venues in six days. I watched a touring band navigate every one of them with nothing but a Google address and an Instagram page.
The information doesn’t exist. Not in any useful form. Not for the people who need it.
That’s what I’m building.
The Greater Portland Venue Field Guide. A firsthand resource for touring musicians, tour managers, photographers, and production people. Not a review. Not a listing. A working document built from real visits and real experience on both sides of the stage.
